Sorption of water vapor by gelatin-based polymers: estimation of rate and sorption degree using spin probe method

Abstract

Spin-probe method is applied for the estimation of rate and sorption degree of water vapor by gelatin-based polymers. The rate and the sorption degree of gelatins are shown to be influenced by their cross-linking extent. The time of cross-linked gelatin swelling in water vapor at 300 K is three times higher than the time of native gelatin swelling in the same conditions.
Key words: electron paramagnetic resonance, gelatin, spin-probe method, sorption.
