Catalytic Properties of Doped Zinc Aluminate
Abstract
The catalytic activity of doped fine-crystalline zinc aluminate, ZnAl2O3
(gahnite) was investigated. The synthesis of gahnite was conducted in two
stages under hydrothermal and supercritical conditions. The mixtures of
aluminum hydroxide and zinc oxide with the additives of solutions of dopants
were treated at first at the temperature of 2000C, and then at 4000C
under pressure 23 MPa. The catalytic properties of synthesized zinc aluminate
were researched in the reactions of carbon monoxide conversion and propane
conversion. The composition of gas reaction mixture imitated composition of
exhaust gases. The gahnite doped by cerium and barium together, and also
two-phase system, which consisted from gahnite doped by copper and barium with
copper oxide on a surface have exhibited high catalytic activity in these
reactions.
