Analytical
laser ionization spectrometry in flames. The selection of analytical form of
rare-earth elements determination
Abstract
Based on the ionization potential and the dissociation
energy of the rare-earth elements monoxides, these molecules were divided into
two groups. For the molecules of the first type, the dissociation energy
exceeds the ionization potential. Laser excitation of these molecules leads to
their predominant ionization. The molecules of the second type have the
ionization potential greater than the dissociation energy. Depending on the
absolute values of the latter atomic lines can be observed in the ionization
spectrum. Elements, which form the molecules of the first type in a flame, should
be determined as monoxide molecules. In the case of formation of the second
type molecules, the determination in atomic form will give better results.
