Microextraction-colorimetric determination
of quaternary ammonium compounds in medicines and disinfectants
Abstract
A method for the determination of quaternary
ammonium compounds in medicines and disinfectants is proposed, based on
dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction of QAC associates with eosin and
measuring the colorimetric characteristics of the obtained extracts using a
smartphone and specialized software. As an analytical signal (Ar),
we used the values of colorimetric parameters in the RGB system. Methods for
determining the content of chlorides of cetylpyridinium, myristalconium,
benzalkonium and benzyldimethyl [3-(myristoylamino)propyl]-ammonium in the
drugs Teraflu, Septolete Total, Kalgel, Miramistin, Inokain and Pharmatex have
been developed; chlorides of cetylpyridinium, benzalkonium,
alkyldimethyl(ethylbenzyl)ammonium, cetyltrimethylammonium, myristyltrimethyl
ammonium and didecyldimethylammonium in antiseptic preparations Securol,
Akhdez, Stellarium and micellar waters. The limits of detection and
determination are in the ranges of 0.007–0.100 and 0.02–0.40 mg/l,
respectively. Calibration characteristics are linear with approximation confidence
coefficients ≥ 0.98. The relative standard deviation of the analysis
results does not exceed 0.13–0.15. The duration of the analysis was 15–20 min.
Key words: digital colorimetry, quaternary
ammonium compounds, dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction, smartphone, RGB,
medicines and disinfectants.
