Simultaneous determination of two components of nickel silver by digital colorimetry

Abstract

A simple and cheap method for the simultaneous determination of high copper(II) and nickel(II) concentrations in aqueous solutions was developed, based on the formation of their colored complexes with the subsequent digital colorimetric analysis using an office flatbed photo scanner. Its validity was verified by the analysis of a nickel silver standard sample. The difference between the accuracy of copper and nickel determination using digital colorimetry and spectrophotometry was negligible.
Key words: digital colorimetry, two-component analysis, nickel silver, copper, nickel.
