Testing the sorption behavior of the chloride
anion during the sorption of MgCl2 on hydroxyapatite at high
concentrations of sorbate using the 36Cl label
Abstract
In the work the features of the behavior of
chloride ions during the adsorption interaction of hydroxyapatite (HAP) with an
aqueous solution of magnesium chloride at high concentrations were revealed
using the 36Cl radioactive label. The kinetics of the label leaving
the solution into the solid phase was studied and the boundary concentrations
of magnesium chloride at which this effect is manifested were determined using
the method of liquid-scintillation spectrometry (LCSS). It was shown that at a
concentration of chloride ions above 0.6 mol/L a topochemical reaction may
occur with the introduction of Cl- into the HAP structure and the
formation of an extraneous phase – witlockite or mixed Ca–Mg apatites with
partial replacement of OH by Cl.
Key words: radioactive label, adsorption,
liquid-scintillation spectrometry, hydroxyapatite.
